Nat brings more than 30 years of experience and leadership in the medical device field. Nat has been responsible for sales and marketing efforts at numerous companies in medical imaging and cardiac surgery. More recently, Nat has led medical device companies in interventional cardiology, sleep medicine and orthopedics. Nat served as CEO of OrthoHub, which successfully developed and commercialized novel information management and planning software for a specific orthopedic procedure. Under Nat’s leadership OrthoHub received FDA 510(k) clearance, obtained two US patents, and was purchased in 2016 for more than a 10x multiple.
Nat also had multiple successes in gaining favorable reimbursement for new medical technologies. Nat gained the support of the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association to include a novel cardiology procedure in their Guidelines for Angioplasty leading to the creation of a new CPT code for his company’s product. Separately, Nat obtained a favorable reimbursement recommendation from the National Blue Cross/Blue Shield Technology Evaluation Committee. In other cases, Nat has identified reimbursement codes or strategies under which new technologies can be paid for without requiring the creation of new codes.
Nat lives in the San Francisco area. He received his B.A. in Genetics from Cornell University, and M.S. in Biology from Stanford University and M.B.A. from the University of Chicago. He is also a volunteer with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue Team, and the lead author of a 2018 study on the use of parabolic microphones to locate lost people in the wilderness.
